How to Make ANY Phone Call on a Locked iPhone, WITHOUT Knowing the Password

You lock your iPhone with password and you think it is safe? Not really, not on the iOS 4.1. jordand321 on MacRumors Forums discovered a bug that allow one to make any call on a password locked iPhone.

Here is the step-by-step hacking tutorial to make calls on a password locked iPhone, no password needed:

  1. Get a password locked iPhone, either yours, your family’s or friend’s.
  2. Slide to unlock. It asks for passcode. Ignore it.
  3. Tab on “Emergency Call” button at the lower left corner.
  4. Tap any non-emergency number as you like. In this tutorial, I use “###”.
  5. Here is the tricky part. Tab the green call button and immediately press the iPhone’s lock button.
  6. Voila! You hack into the Phone app where you can see all contacts and call any number!
  7. Make any call and end the call to return to the locked screen.
  8. Return the iPhone back to the owner. ;)

I tested it and it works like a charm. The iPhone is locked to the Phone app once hacked. Cannot access to other apps on the iPhone.

Update 1: the security bug has been fixed in iOS 4.2 beta, which the final version will be released in November 2010. Peace.

This is an open letter to Apple Malaysia regarding Apple iPad’s release date in Malaysia.

Dear Apple Malaysia,

Malaysia iPhone 4 has been launched, but where is the iPad?

When will you launch Apple iPad in Malaysia? We have been waiting for it since it launched in January 2010.

It has been 9 months now and still no sign of iPad in Malaysia. Even the later product, iPhone 4, also has been launched in Malaysia in September.

What’s wrong? Is Apple going to skip 1st generation iPad and launch “iPad 2” in Malaysia?

By the way, I also noticed that Apple hasn’t launched iPad in few other Southeast Asia countries: Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam. Except Singapore, which had iPad in July.

There were rumors of Maxis telco will launch iPad 3G in Malaysia (they introduced microSIM for iPad 3G in May) but no more iPad related news from them.

Oh. By the way, I have bought my Apple iPad from SINGAPORE!

I wanted the product so much that I couldn’t wait for its launch in Malaysia and asked my friend to “import” a unit for me from Singapore.

Hopefully, other Malaysians will soon be able to buy iPad in Malaysia, officially.

How to buy iPad in Malaysia?

If you don’t mind to pay few hundred bucks more, you can buy Apple iPad from local gadget/computer shops.

Else, ask your friend to buy iPad from other countries for you. Definitely cheaper than buying unofficially-launched-iPad locally. I got my iPad 3G (32GB) from Singapore at about RM2580.
