| Dear Apple, When will iPad Launch in Malaysia? Posted: 25 Oct 2010 06:33 PM PDT This is an open letter to Apple Malaysia regarding Apple iPad’s release date in Malaysia. — Dear Apple Malaysia, Malaysia iPhone 4 has been launched, but where is the iPad? When will you launch Apple iPad in Malaysia? We have been waiting for it since it launched in January 2010. It has been 9 months now and still no sign of iPad in Malaysia. Even the later product, iPhone 4, also has been launched in Malaysia in September. What’s wrong? Is Apple going to skip 1st generation iPad and launch “iPad 2” in Malaysia? By the way, I also noticed that Apple hasn’t launched iPad in few other Southeast Asia countries: Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam. Except Singapore, which had iPad in July. There were rumors of Maxis telco will launch iPad 3G in Malaysia (they introduced microSIM for iPad 3G in May) but no more iPad related news from them. Oh. By the way, I have bought my Apple iPad from SINGAPORE! I wanted the product so much that I couldn’t wait for its launch in Malaysia and asked my friend to “import” a unit for me from Singapore. Hopefully, other Malaysians will soon be able to buy iPad in Malaysia, officially. Love, — How to buy iPad in Malaysia? If you don’t mind to pay few hundred bucks more, you can buy Apple iPad from local gadget/computer shops. Else, ask your friend to buy iPad from other countries for you. Definitely cheaper than buying unofficially-launched-iPad locally. I got my iPad 3G (32GB) from Singapore at about RM2580. Update 1: TheStar’s TechCentral, too, published an article regarding iPad availability in Malaysia. |
