MALAYSIA: This is an update to my previous post “Decision Making: Maxis iPhone 4 vs DiGi iPhone 4 in 10 Seconds“.

Now you can get contract free Apple iPhone 4 from Maxis! Maxis recently updated the iPhone rate plans page to add the new iData Plan “iData 1” which is RM30 per month for 250MB data, and no contract iPhone 4 sell at RM2290 (16GB) and RM2690 (32GB).

The new data plan is valid only for Maxis postpaid customers (Value Plus Plan, Value Plan and their supplementary lines).

iPhone 4 + Hotlink Prepaid

Not a Maxis postpaid customer? No problem. Maxis also secretly offer Apple iPhone 4 without contract (bundle with Hotlink prepaid) via Apple authorized retailers.

It has been officially confirmed by Maxis to me via Twitter. Maxis also promised to update the iPhone plan page about the Hotlink + iPhone 4 package.

My two cents

It is a good news to us who do not want to tie with iPhone 4 contract.

The Maxis contract-free iPhone 4 price is slightly higher than Singapore iPhone 4, around RM200. Consider that you have to send Singapore iPhone 4 back to Singapore for warranty claim (not International warranty), Maxis iPhone 4 price is acceptable.
