| Singapore M1 to Deploy South East Asia’s First Commercial LTE Network Posted: 17 May 2011 01:43 AM PDT Singapore M1 Limited (M1) telco announced that they will deploy South East Asia’s first commercial Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Singapore. The project has been awarded to Huawei, a leader in providing telecommunications network solutions for operators.The 5 year SGD$280 million contract provides the turnkey LTE solution to M1, which include installation of macro base stations, distributed base stations and Evolved Pacet Core (EPC). “We are building an advanced world class mobile network which will truly enhance the wireless internet experience for our customers, and cater to the increasing demands of future mobile devices and applications,” commented Ms Karen Kooi, M1 Limited, Chief Executive Officer. The M1 LTE network is scheduled for island-wide completion in the first quarter of 2012. LTE in Malaysia?As far as I know, Malaysia telcos and WiMax operators are still testing LTE internally.
