Malaysia iPad: Pick A Wireless Broadband Data Plan

Apple iPad (WiFi+3G)

Malaysia – If you have buy an Apple iPad, you might want to consider subscribe to a wireless broadband data plan to keep your iPad online all the time, even there is no WiFi.

Read on for the iPad data plans from Maxis and DiGi.

Maxis iPad data plan

Maxis announced data plans exclusive to iPad (come with microSIM card) as soon as Apple iPad is officially available in Malaysia.

maxis ipad data plans

The Maxis iPad data plans starting from RM70 (3.5GB/month), available in both postpaid and prepaid form. RM10 discount is given to existing Maxis customer for iPad data postpaid plans.

If you have iPad WiFi, you could buy MiFi (USB modem) from Maxis.

Check out the details of Maxis iPad data plan.

DiGi iPad data plan

While DiGi do not have “exclusive” data plans for iPad, their existing wireless broadband plans are “iPad-friendly” (microSIM card provided) too, as announced on DiGi facebook page.

The DiGi Discover Day Plan (RM38/month for 3GB) is the most affordable plan but is limited to 700kbps download speed, from 7am-7pm. After 7pm, speed will be throttled to 128kbps.

LiewCF’s choice of iPad data plan

In my opinion, the so-called-iPad-data-plans are basically same as existing wireless broadband plans from the telcos.

I subscribe to Maxis’ broadband special offer for existing customer at RM48/month for 3GB data quota, plus free USB modem. That’s a better deal than the Maxis iPad data plan!

The only thing I need to do is cut the SIM card into microSIM size, so that it could be inserted into my iPad 3G. Trust me, it is easy. I did it for my iPhone SIM card.

If you do not need a fast connection but want to keep iPad always connected, then the DiGi Discovery Day Plan would be ideal. If you like faster download speed, then spend few more bucks on Maxis data plan.

What’s your choice of data plan for iPad?

Apple iPad Malaysia Price is CHEAP! Should You Wait for iPad 2?

Apple iPad (WiFi+3G)

At last, iPad Malaysia is finally released before the end of 2010. iPad Malaysia is selling much cheaper than Singapore iPad. Good timing for X’mas gift.

Malaysia iPad price list

Check out the iPad Malaysia price list below. Yes, This is official! Not the grey market price as reported previously.

iPad WiFi
16GB RM1549
32GB RM1849
64GB RM2149

iPad WiFi+3G
16GB RM1999
32GB RM2299
64GB RM2599

iPad Malaysia is CHEAP!

As a comparison, I bought my 32GB iPad WiFi+3G from Singapore for about RM2500 in August 2010. That’s two hundred bucks different! Cheaper than in U.S.!

Where to buy Malaysia iPad?

You can buy iPad from Apple authorized resellers in Malaysia, but not yet on Apple Malaysia online store. Also, no educational pricing revealed (yet?).

Wait! iPad 2 is coming (very) soon!

According to Apple products’ lifecycle, the iPad 2 will be announced in early 2011 (probably January 2011) and become available few months later.

The coming iPad2 would definitely better than the 1st generation iPad. Rumors say iPad2 will include camera and support FaceTime video call (current iPad has no camera), lighter weight, USB port, Retina display (like in iPhone 4), and new 3-axis gyroscopes.

My two cents

If you are buying iPad as a X’mas gift, then go ahead! It would be one of the best gift to your love!

However, if you are buying iPad for yourselves, you might want to reconsider. After all, you have waited for so long time (almost 1 year) for iPad Malaysia, I bet you won’t mind to wait a few more months to get the next generation and better iPad 2.

If you cannot wait anymore and you want an iPad NOW the BUY it!

The latest iOS 4.2.1 update gave iPad a new life and make it a better iPad with new features such as multitasking, folders, etc.

I am a happy iPad owner. Welcome to the club. :)

Update: Along with Malaysia, there are 10 other countries launch iPad same day too: Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Korea, Sweden, and Taiwan.

No one wants to wind up staring at a boring blog page when they’re looking for something interesting to recharge their imaginations, an entertaining distraction from work, or even specific information.

People read blogs for amusement and inspiration, so creativity is an important part of developing a successful blog.

And these days, having an interesting design or theme won’t get you a solid readership. RSS feeds have readers focusing on the content that’s being sent directly to them and reserving trips to actual blog pages for special occasions.

So how is it possible to stay creative with content when the Web is already saturated with content of all kinds?

The good news about the availability of excessive content is that you can probably write better than a significant percentage of people who are posting poorly constructed ramblings on personal blogs.

And if you’re a competent writer, that’s half the battle. The other half is staying creative, no matter what.

If you’re struggling to latch onto an idea for a post or are just looking for something to save for a rainy day, check out the following tips for maintaining creativity on your blog.

Read Incessantly

If you like to write, you probably like to read. Draw inspiration from what you enjoy in literature, reporting, professional writing, or even technical writing.

Another important consideration is staying aware of the news. Referencing any common reading that people are likely to recognize is a great way to attract and retain readers’ interest as long as you expand on the commonality and give them something new to think about.

You can also read great blogs and learn from their success.

Ask and Answer Lots of Questions

Curiosity strikes a chord with most people because it’s an inherent part of being human.

Ask questions to see if your readers can answer them, and even if you don’t get any responses to write about in your next post, you can find and post the answer yourself a few days later.

Polls are a good way to organize questions and coach responses, but if you want to give a little more leeway, solo free-response questions also pique interest.

Encourage readers to ask their own questions. You might consider holding a contest to see who can ask the most impossible question, promising that you’ll write a post in answer to the winner.

Challenging yourself is a great way to unearth the creativity you already possess, and your readers are just the right people to get your creative juices flowing.

Get Consistent

Having trouble remembering to keep creativity in the mix? Schedule it by coming up with a weekly post that has to focus on a certain creative theme.

“Wordless Wednesday” for example, has been a popular phenomenon among many blogs. Posts include photos, music audio files, wordless video, caricatures, sign language, how-to diagrams, games, puzzles, and more.

You can come up with a certain creative day for your blog and let your readers know when to start expecting it. Anything else you can do every day to consistently inject creativity is helpful, such as including an inspirational or funny quote that pertains to each post.

“Word of the Day” can also be interesting as long as it’s directly related to the main content of your blog. For example, you might define “upcycling” (using waste material to create something useful) as a word of the day for an environmental blog, using it in your post.

Anything that keeps you on your toes is great fodder for creativity. You might struggle to come up with your word of the day, but once you have it, you’ll write an interesting post.

Add New Media

If you’re feeling adventurous, start making monthly (and then weekly) podcasts. This can be audio only for those of you who fear the camera, but adding visual interest is certainly a creative opportunity.

In this type of arena, your creativity is almost unlimited. You can mix in music and other audio, make how-to podcasts that star you as the “guinea pig” create photo stories, post footage of important events, and include virtually anything else you can think of.

Podcasts are an effective way to get your RSS readers to participate in something visual, and for any reader, they add several new dimensions of interest. Challenge yourself to try creating a podcast and watch for the positive feedback from readers and new visitors.

Untweeps - unfollow inactive twitter users

If you are on Twitter and follow many users, you might want to unfollow those who do not update for a long time. Afterall, no point to follow a Twitter user who do not tweet.

Previously, I told you about MyCleenr to clean your Twitter contact list but now it is closed.

Now, I found another tool to unfollow Twitter users who do not tweet often — UnTweeps. It is fast, easy to use, free, and it works!

Read on for the UnTweeps tutorial.

How to use UnTweeps to unfollow Twitter users who do not update often

  1. Sign in your Twitter account on UnTweeps (It is safe).
  2. After logging in, enter number of days (default: 30) to list Twitter users who do not tweet for the period. Click “List state Tweeps” button.

    UnTweeps options

There is another feature to whitelist the Twitter users you do NOT want to unfollow, even they are inactive.

  3. Few seconds later (It is fast!), UnTweeps will list down all the Twitter users who are matching your search criterial. Each listed Twitter user are shown with avatar, username and last update’s date.
  4. Select those you want to unfollow (No “Check All” button as it violate Twitter’s TOS). Click “Unfollow Selected Tweeps” button at the bottom of the page to unfollow those inactive Tweeps.
  5. At the next page, UnTweeps will list the unfollow requests that have been successfully received and acknowledged by the Twitter API.
  6. Done. Now you have cleaner Twitter follow list!

UnTweeps helped me to removed 40+ inactive Twitter users who do not tweet for over 30 days. Nice!
