LcF Weblog Is Back!

Posted: 13 Mar 2011 03:40 AM PDT

Since afternoon of 4th March 2004, the web server is down without any notice. After waited 24 hours, I decided to get a new web host and it is the server hosting this website now.

I was busy with the web server things last few days… Search for new web host, register and payment, notify my hosting frens(both paid and free hosting), set up new websites, etc.

I would say it is a good experience.

Later I have been told that the previous web server was under DDoS attack. The old server is back online yesterday. They have shifted the web server to another network. However, I can’t login my account for unknown reason. Perhaps they have reset all the account password. Hopefully the files and databases are safe.

Submited support ticket to old web host to request for account information. No reply yet. Now, I am unable to get back my previous data yet. I should do my own backup. Rely on server side backup is a bad decision.

Thanks to the server down problem. Now I use WordPress for my blog, instead of b2. WP is cleaner and faster. No design yet, using default template.

Oh yes! http://weblog.LcFwebsite.com is now http://www.LiewCF.com. Please update your bookmark. :)

RHB PayPal logo

A reader asked questions about opening PayPal account in Malaysia and here is my answer.

Question:

Which is more economical and safe, opening account with RHB bank or direct with PayPal? Openning account is free but is there any other payments we have to make? After opening an account with PayPal are we allowed to close it ?

Answer:
You don’t open PayPal account via RHB bank. (I don’t see any link to open PayPal account on RHB website) You can register a free PayPal account directly at http://www.paypal.com/ There is no other payment to make.

Yes, you can close PayPal account if you like.

To close your account:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click Profile near the top of the page.
  3. Click My settings.
  4. Click Close Account in the Account type section and follow the steps listed.
