Apple iPad multi-touch display is great for almost everything but not for massive typing. You’ll need a keyboard for iPad to do serious writing works.

I have received an iPad case with bluetooth keyboard review unit from EFO Gadget Shop. Read on for my review and how you can win the giveaway.

The iPad keyboard case uses PU Leather in solid black colour and smooth surface. It looks like a low profile black case, which is good if you do not want people to notice your iPad. With build-in bluetooth keyboard inside, the iPad case is around 3cm thick.

Opening the magnetic closure, what you get is a iPad pocket and a slim netbook size silicon keyboard (about 0.7mm thick). Again, everything is in black color. Keyboard characters are printed with white ink.

To setup your iPad with the bluetooth keyboard iPad case, you slide in iPad from the side of iPad pocket. It will fits well and won’t drop out. All iPad ports, switches, and speaker are not covered for your easy access.

The silicon bluetooth keyboard is fully covered, thus it is dust-proof and spill-proof. Most of the keys (A-Z, 0-9) are full sized keys and others are smaller size. You’ll takes some time to get used to the soft and quiet keys if you have used to the “keyboard striking” feel on computer keyboard.

There are function keys to control song playback (back, forward, play, pause), mute, volume up/down, and shortcut keys to show/hide virtual keyboard and search iPad. At the upper right corner has a “Home” key which function like iPad’s HOME button.

My only major complain about the bluetooth keyboard is that there’s only one “Shift” key on the left side, no “Shift” key on the right side.

The build-in bluetooth keyboard use a 430 mAH battery with standby time up to 100 days, and up to 90 hours of continuous working time. The charging time is 4 to 4.5 hours.

How to connect bluetooth keyboard to iPad

  1. Turn on bluetooth keyboard with the switch located at upper right edge.
  2. Press the “connect” button on the keyboard (upper right corner). The bluetooth LED will start blinking.
  3. On iPad, goto Settings > General > Bluetooth. Change Bluetooth setting to “ON” (if you haven’t)
  4. iPad will scan for nearby bluetooth devices.
  5. Tap on the device’s name (In this case, the bluetooth keyboard name is “KB6117_H”) to connect.
  6. iPad will popup a notification box with a random PIN code.
  7. Key in the PIN code on the bluetooth keyboard to connect.
  8. Bluetooth keyboard will connect wirelessly to your iPad if you entered the PIN code correctly.
  9. Done. Enjoy typing on bluetooth keyboards! (virtual keyboard will not shown if bluetooth keyboard is connected)

Verdict

If you buy iPad to replace your laptop/notebook, but still miss the keyboard, then this bluetooth keyboard case for iPad might be right for you. It completes iPad with physical keyboard at a low price.

Oops! I was too excited about Malaysia iPad 2 and White iPhone 4 and I almost forget about Celcom iPhone 4.

Celcom previously ask interested users to pre-register iPhone 4 (which is 1 year late than other local telcos), now the Celcom iPhone 4 business plans have been revealed.Here is the screenshot of Celcom iPhone 4 plans:

No “WOW” there. Too bad.

Seems like Celcom has no plan to attract people switch over to their network for a better iPhone plan. Based on the table, DiGi seems to still have the best iPhone plans offer. Celcom iPhone 4 plans may slightly better (more data quota) than Maxis iValue plans.

While Malaysia Apple fans are queueing for iPad 2 in the early morning, Apple Store Malaysia has quietly started iPad 2 sales online at 1:00 am, April 29, 2011. That’s 9 hours ahead the Apple reseller outlets.LowYat.net reported that a guy has been in line waiting for iPad 2 release since 10:00pm, April 28, 2011 — 12 hours before the actual sale!

The online pricing on Apple Online Store is still the same as previously reported, but you get free iPad engraving of your custom message. That’s the service you don’t get from Apple reseller outlets. The shipping is free of charge, but it will takes 1-2 weeks to reach your doorstep (thanks to the iPad2 madness).

Would you prefer to shop online (wait 1-2 week) or queue for hours (cash & carry) to get your iPad 2?

MALAYSIA: You are excited about iPad 2 sales in Malaysia and can’t wait to buy it as soon as it available.

Now, where should you goto queue and buy iPad 2 in Malaysia? Read on for the “Malaysia iPad 2 Queue Guide”.

Apple resellers

If you are living in Kuala Lumpur area, try the Machines outlets. Here is the map of Machines outlets locations and contact number. They even has the iPad 2 Buying FAQ on facebook!

If you are living in Penang area, try Switch outlets. Both have confirmed that they will have iPad 2 sales tomorrow (April 29, 2011).

Friendly reminder: Make a call before you heading to the particular outlet to confirm the availability of iPad 2.

If you are planning to overnight in the mall (OMG!) to get the 1st queue number, please take note that some shopping malls do NOT allowed visitors stay after closing hour. Please call to confirm.

There are other Apple Premium Resellers in Malaysia, but they are quiet about iPad 2 (no announcement on website nor facebook). Anyway, you can try to enquiry them. Here is the official list of Apple Reseller Listing with their addresses and contact number.

Apple Online Store

Apple Malaysia Online Store will sell iPad 2, too. I called Apple Malaysia office but they cannot confirm that iPad 2 sales will be available tomorrow, despite that the Apple Store is currently down for update.

Update (April 29): Now you can order iPad 2 online but the shipping time is 1-2 weeks.

If you cannot get iPad 2 in the queue, then you might like to order iPad 2 online. That’s no sweat shopping, though the waiting time maybe longer (1-2 weeks).

At Last, White iPhone 4 Release Date Confirmed (Coming Soon in Malaysia)

After delayed and delayed, Apple finally announced that white iPhone 4 will be available on April 28, 2011 (US) from Apple online store, Apple retail store, Apple Authorized Resellers.

“The white iPhone 4 has finally arrived and it’s beautiful,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “We appreciate everyone who has waited patiently while we’ve worked to get every detail right.”

Indeed, we have been waiting for almost a year for White iPhone 4 since the iPhone 4 announcement.

These countries will get the White iPhone 4 first: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Macau, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and the US.

Other countries will get White iPhone 4 soon. In Malaysia, DiGi telco had teased Malaysians that it is “coming soon“.
