How To: Make an iPad-Ready Website

Posted: 02 Apr 2010 07:49 AM PDT

Apple iPad will be available soon at April 3, 2010. Apple created a page to show the “iPad Ready” websites.

Here is how my blog, LiewCF.com, will look like on an Apple iPad:

Apple iPad Ready website

Pretty nice, isn’t it? :P

According to Apple, an iPad-Ready website is the site that take advantage of latest web standards (HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript) to deliver content that looks and functions beautifully on iPad.

In short, “iPad Ready = NO Flash!”

Generally, every website is iPad-Ready! I think that’s what Apple want to prove — you can surf as usual on an iPad, even though there’s no Flash support.

Friendster: The Signs of Dying

Last month, I asked you to vote on the poll “Have you quit Friendster?“. The result shows that Friendster is dying.

Friendster killer: Facebook

Total votes: 49

75% have quit Friendster, only 10% are Friendster die-hard fans. About 6 out of 10 (57%) have switched to Facebook. 14% do not know what is Friendster…

Personally, I am not surprised with the poll result. From my own experience, many of my Friendster friends are either inactive or leaving status messages telling that they are now on Facebook.

Decreasing site traffic

Malaysia online payment retails, MOL acquire Friendster at December 10, 2009 but it didn’t help Friendster to increase site traffic. The website’s traffic is decreasing continuously since 2009.

The above Alexa site report shows that Friendster.com pageviews is dropping since 2009 to the bottom. 3 months changes is -43.58%!

My two cents

If MOL still want to keep Friendster.com and shows that they were not stupid to acquired the fading out social networking site, they really need to reconstruct the site to give it a new life.
